I’m an artist who began creating art on paper before transitioning to canvas. I have mitochondrial disease, but I wanted to show the world something new through art. I want to show that even though you have a disease, you could still be seen. There are many ways of showing yourself. I paint flags because I am Brazilian and Greek, and I also created one for my dog, as I love animals. I created one that resembles a heart, as I need to check my heart periodically. I did one that looks like three ears because I have good hearing. I created a project that simulates what happens in my disease for the UMDF, a foundation dedicated to helping people with diseases. I’m working on new art pieces every day, even in my head. I made one that resembles poppy seeds from the Wizard of Oz movie. I created one that resembles food on a plate. All of my work is abstract.
